About me

My interest in photography really started in 1976 when I purchased my first 35mm SLR camera and three lenses. It was like magic!. I really loved creating images and the versitility of wide, normal and telephoto lenses added so much to the possibilities.

Over the years, I added camera bodies, lenses and flash and learned all I could about the technique of creating images. I also developed and printed Black and White images. Great fun that was. I even played with 2¼ inch format a bit.

In 2001, I acquired my first digital camera, a small "point and shoot" Olympus. Digital photography offered great possibilities, but the technology was young and sophisticated digital cameras were expensive, so I kept shooting 35mm as well as playing some with digital images and associated technologies. However, one could feel a change was underway.

In 2005, I purchased a better digital camera, an Olympus C-8080. Though not an SLR, it offered greater sophistication than my previous digital camera.

E-520

For the last several years, I have used digital format exclusively. I currently own an Olympus E-500 and E-520 camera bodies and several Olympus lenses and flash. To edit images, I use Adobe PhotoShop, Adobe Lightroom and PhotoShop Elements. I actually prefer to not edit too extensively, prefering to capture, as much as possible, what I am seeking in-camera. However, no camera is perfect nor any photographer for that matter. And when shooting in RAW format, software is essential.

My principle area of interest is nature and landscape photography. However, I also very much enjoy capturing images of people.
